Record-Breaking Financial Success at World Youth Day 2023 in Portugal

A study by the Lisbon School of Economics and Management revealed that WYD 2023 generated at least €350 million in gross added value for the Lisbon region, primarily in 2023. Additionally, the event created approximately 10,000 short-term jobs and resulted in a lasting investment of €48 million, transforming key areas such as the final vigil and mass site into a permanent park.

Titled «Who Will Be a Priest?», the study delves into the origins and motivations of current priests. Commissioned by the German Bishops’ Conference (DBK) Commission for Priestly Vocations and Ecclesial Services, the research engaged 847 men ordained between 2010 and 2021, as well as 1,668 men who left seminary during their training.
