Germany: research reveals that young clergy are conservative and opposed to ecclesiastical progressivism

Titled «Who Will Be a Priest?», the study delves into the origins and motivations of current priests. Commissioned by the German Bishops’ Conference (DBK) Commission for Priestly Vocations and Ecclesial Services, the research engaged 847 men ordained between 2010 and 2021, as well as 1,668 men who left seminary during their training.

According to the newspaper, the new regulations mandate that all official events must be secular and devoid of prayers. The updated code of conduct also requires public employees to respect same-sex couples, allowing them to collect official documents on behalf of their partners despite the lack of legal recognition of their relationships under current Polish law.

Canadian archbishop fights for church’s right to reject euthanasia

In a significant clash over these policies, Archbishop Christian Lépine of Montreal has taken a stand against Quebec’s Attorney General. Lépine has appealed to the Quebec Superior Court to halt the enforcement of a 2023 amendment to the End-of-Life Care Act. This amendment mandates that palliative care hospices must include Medical Assistance in Dying (MAiD) among their services.
