On Monday afternoon, Pope Francis received in audience 12 bishops from various countries around the world. Their meeting took place at the Pope’s residence in Santa Marta.
The conversation with the Holy Father lasted almost two hours and touched upon several topics, such as the episcopal ministry, care of priests and different challenges of the Church’s evangelizing mission in the world. As Vatican Radio reported, they also spoke about Francis’ recent pastoral visit to Latin America.
The Prelates, who were guests of the Congregation for Bishops, had taken part in a Spiritual Retreat at the Benedictine Monastery of Subiaco, reserved for recently ordained bishops. Also taking part in the meeting with the Holy Father were Cardinal Marc Ouellet, Prefect of the Congregation for Bishops, other officials of the Dicastery and the Retreat’s preachers.
